Playing Catch Up

April is here! I apologize for not posting for almost a month~I can't believe it's been so long. We've been crazy busy around here for the last 2 weeks.

Last week our church hosted the regional Presbytery Monday through Wednesday and I was responsible for an extra large main dish and extra large dessert for Tuesday night's dinner and 24 sack dinners for Wednesday. The hardest part was definitely the sack dinners~ 2 dozen homemade subs plus apples, chips, bottled water, and 3 dozen very large snickerdoodles. Phew. I'm glad to have that over with.

Thursday was our 4th anniversary! (See the Valentine's Day post) It feels like we've been married forever (that's a good thing) and at the same time, I still feel like a newlywed (an even better thing) despite our 2.5 children! Tim greeted me at the door with beautiful roses and a sweet card. We decided not to go out because we're trying to save money. (Keep reading)

Thursday was also my 24 week prenatal appointment. The good news is that everything is going swimmingly. The bad news is that my globetrotting OB will be in Greece when little Joshua decides to arrive. However, I'm glad I know ahead of time and I think I know which doctor I'd like to help me when the crucial time comes.

On Saturday we decided to have our Resurrection Day dinner. We were invited to a friend's house for dinner after church so we wanted to have a nice family time when we weren't rushed. Oddly enough, we didn't actually eat our dinner Saturday. We had a late lunch (and some candy) and "The 10 Commandments" was on tv and to save myself from a 10 minute explanation let's just say that the turkey finished cooking too late. We settled for Moses and homemade angel food cake and strawberries and what Dabney calls "cream" (whipped cream). Turkey is definitely on the menu tonight.

The big news is that we got a wonderful call from an equally wonderful friend Saturday morning. He found us plane tickets for a really great price to go to....

Yes, of course, Hawaii!!!!

We'll get to see my parents and brother and sister and their island home in not too long! (No, I'm not giving dates on the internet- that would be stupid, right?) This is what we've been saving every penny for in the last few months. This will be our last chance to visit before Baby J comes and before little David turns 2. (2 years old = full price plane ticket) I cannot tell you how excited I am about this trip. I seriously can barely contain myself. I am so excited in fact that at nap time today, I just might hop on my treadmill. (To get ready for my bikini of course, Dad!)

I think I would be remiss if I didn't tell everyone how God has provided for us since we began this cash-based budget. Unbelievably, not only have all our needs been met, but we have been able to buy the children the clothes (for David) and shoes (for Dabney) they desperately needed and actually SAVED MONEY FROM THE GROCERY BUDGET for the last 2 months. God is so good to us. I'd better sign off for now. Thanks for reading and we hope you had a Happy Resurrection Day.

Awwww...shucks! I was hoping for a few tickets to PA...who would want to go to HAWAII this time of year?!?! I mean...sheesh! :-)

WoW! That is incredible! How wonderful will that be for your family-I am so happy for you guys. You get a vacation-and more importantly, you get to spend time with the family you hold so dear. How long will you be gone? A week, two? Oh-you better take LOTS of pictures or I might have to come over there!!!

Happy Anniversary to you, Happy anniversary to YOU! SOunds like you have a winner for a hubby-but we knew that already, huh? Congratulations on four years of marriage and might the rest of your years together be as blessed as the previous ones!

When you get the opportunity-I would love to hear more about the financial cash-based plan you have implemented. If it is too personal to put on the internet, perhaps you could write me? I am trying to rein in our spending and would LOVE advice.

I just started a letter for you on Sunday (they take a few sit downs to complete) and THIS has already become a letter...so, I will stop NOW! ;-)

I am so happy for an update! Sounds like you HAVE a been a busy Mama-but a good busy, right?
