Yes, We've gone to the dark side...

Ok, I know I will hear from you all about this but, if you must purchase a dead tree that will shed needles from November to January and it costs $45 and it takes you 3 hours to put the lights on it and it drips sap and you have to water it everyday... wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to buy a nice 9' tree with the lights (1300!) already on it? We got this one used (once!) off Craigslist.com for $100. Totally a steal! And it's huge- it came in 2 very large boxes! Dabney asks to see it everyday. We may cheat and put it up on Monday- Tim wants it up as much as Dabney!

I am so confused. Christmas is changing into a circus with gazillions of lights and its 9' tall. Whoo, what a deal! What happened to the holiday cheer,hm? What happened to the hot cocoa while you put up the lights and ornaments(preferably in December!), hm? I guess its alright for PLASTIC but I suppose we won't dispossess you yet. Just kidding partly.

No mistake, we will definately have hot chocolate and we'll be singing Christmas carols and putting up the tree and decorating together, only we won't electrocute ourselves and it will make our lives easier and it will be the first day of the Christmas season- the day after Thanksgiving(if I can persuade my family to hold out until then). Look at Dabney's excited face- can you deny that sweet thing, Uncle James? And remind me to take your present back because I bought it before December!

OK, she is really, really cute. Look at those little hands. Maybe Dabney and you can sing "we gather together" with your Christmas carols. That turkey gave his life for a special day. Don't let his life go to waste. And I won't get electrocu~!#$&%^*^&(%&($%@^$@&#%*^&*$. OW

I just don't know!?!? Where did I go wrong as a father...for 27 years my family has enjoyed not only the sights of Christmas but also the smells of Christmas? The smell of a freshly cut evergreen...sure it needs a little tender loving care like a little water once in a while but the joy it brings to a family if only for a month or two. My poor little grand-children will think Christmas trees grow in a cardboard box and smell like musty plastic. I just don't know what to do!?!? I guess the next trip to the store will be for a can of artificial evergreen air spray. Who knows what's next...probably a rotating tree stand that plays "oh "plastic" Christmas tree, oh "plastic" Christmas tree, how lovely are your artificial limbs."
I just don't what more to say...

Mandie, I love your Christmas tree! And look at how happy Dabney is! Don't listen to Uncle James and flip-flop Pop-Pop! They are just jealous! We only get to have a Palm tree this Christmas. AND they won't let me decorate it! They are all expecting that we will get a shipment of real trees from the mainland.....won't they be surprised if that doesn't happen? Somebody might be eating crow for Thanksgiving!!! Ha-Ha!!

A heartfelt Grandma

It is really fun (and neato) to see the interactions of your family as they tease you. So funny. I will make sure to send you an evergreen candle for your Christmas present.

Oh-and one other thing. After your first year, you *might* change your mind about how much easier it is. After all-those branches are CODED and have to be put BACK coded! :-)

PS...Did you get my last (very depressing) letter? Well, there is an update. We found a job but now are homeless. Right in time for Christmas. AHHHH. I will live vicariously through your holiday cheer! :-)
